What is an Identification Placement and Review Committee ( IPRC )? A committee designated to identify a student as "exceptional", find an appropriate program placement for that student and to review (annually) that student's identification and placement. The Education Act defines an exceptional pupil as “a pupil whose behavioural, communicational, intellectual, physical or multiple exceptionalities are such that he or she is considered to need placement in a special education program”.
When does IPRC take place? * Initial IPRC This is an IPRC for a student who has never been identified. The process begins with a parent request to the principal or as a directive from the school team. These IPRC meetings are scheduled at various times through out the year.
